Project Status

Whetstone Pastures Garden Village was awarded Garden Village Status by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government in 2018.

A draft Vision Document was produced in 2020 with public and stakeholder engagement on the document taking place 7 December 2020 – 7 February 2021.

The final Vision Document incorporating the inputs from the public and stakeholder engagement has now been published.

Blaby District Council published their Regulation 18 Local Plan 28 January 2021. The Regulation 18 plan focused on options for the location of future development, all reasonable site options and proposed main policies for the local plan. Within the document Whetstone Pastures was considered and identified as ‘reasonable to consider further’.

The next stage of Blaby District Council’s Local Plan process is the Regulation 19 consultation.

The Regulation 19 Consultation on Blaby District Council’s New Local Plan has been delayed due to the programme of work for the sub-regional strategic evidence that supports the Leicester and Leicestershire Statement of Common Ground in relation to the housing requirement for Leicester City. You can find out more by visiting the Councils website https://www.blaby.gov.uk/planning-and-building/local-plan/new-local-plan/

Further stakeholder and public engagement led by Tritax Symmetry on a Framework Masterplan for Whetstone Pastures Garden Village is anticipated later this year. The final Framework Masterplan and other supporting documents will then be submitted to Blaby District Council’s Regulation 19 Local Plan Consultation in the form of a Concept Framework document.
